Farewell to Nippon Maru

MS Nippon Maru became the trademark to both the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme and the Ship for World Youth Programme since the establishment of each programme in 1974 and 1988 respectively.

Through the 35 years history of the programmes, Nippon Maru became something more than a vassal.
For us, ex-participants, we called her as a beloved sister and home.

We are quite sad to learn that this is the last chance for us to be playing around with our sister under the shade of SSEAYP. A new ship (or sister?) will be introducing next year.

On the other hand, we are happy for this sister as she finally got her chance to grow and to see the other parts of the world.

'till we meet again

Do you realise that you've donated three articles for SSEAYP and Nippon Maru within one week?

I understand how you feel coz I also never miss a chance to talk about the programme, the ship, our friends, and, as you said, our once-in-a-lifetime experience to anyone who shows a glimpse of interest about us. ;)
